Kevin will take us on a technical deep dive of Lync Edge role discussing details such as application & network architecture, optimization, scalability and resiliency. Something you don’t want to miss!

I will be discussing details of load balancing Lync and the importance and role of reverse proxy in Lync deployments. Could you have guessed? ;)

While it might be repetitive, it is worth noting what we are doing and why:

- The collaboration with Lync Users Group will bring us better content, better vendor participation and better sponsorship going forward.

- We will start using our new Meetup group which will help us manage registrations better. Make sure you check it out and join.

- Our user group remains same with same leadership between Chad, Richard, Rob and myself. Your participation and contributions are always encouraged and welcome as before.

- The name of user group remains unchanged. We will continue to call it Philadelphia Unified Communications Users Group (@phillyucug on twitter). Make sure you follow us on twitter if you aren’t already.

- We will continue to meet at monthly intervals as we did before. However, there is a small change in format: we will present Lync content every quarter inline with Lync Users Group requirements. Remaining two meeting each quarter will be dedicated to Exchange and Office 365 related topics. This will help us focus our content better while meeting requirement to join Lync Users Group.

- The group will continue to be free for all as before.

So go ahead and sign up for upcoming meeting and make sure to spread the work and bring your friends and colleagues to the meeting. Let’s make this a grand success.

July 2013 Announcement

While we won’t have meeting this month, it’s due to two major factors: summer vacations and new group structure.

Summer vacation is self descriptive. For User Group there are some exciting changes coming. We will be working with Lync Users Group for inclusion. The end result of this effort is collaboration on content and sponsorship.

As a user group members of Philly UC User Group, you will see the benefit very directly. First and foremost, we will have set schedule and far richer content for Lync ecosystem enabling us to deliver more and direct value.

Second less obvious benefit is we will have ability to reach greater audiences and create more diverse user group that is much more stronger and offers lot more networking opportunities than what we are able to offer today.

With that, I have one ask from you before I take your leave: Please reply with your recommended topic for August meeting (to be held on August 13). We want to make sure we provide you with a topic that matters the most and what better than to present what is most relevant to your current needs.

We will be publishing August meeting no later than next week. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you in August.

Monthly Meeting – 18 June 2013

Event Date: June 18, 2013

Speaker: Matt Landis

After short break in May, we are back again, with more goodies, more fun, more networking.

Matt Landis is a well known name when it comes to Microsoft Lync. He is a Lync MVP which is a great achievement in itself. He maintains a very informative blog at http://windowspbx.blogspot.com/, and best of all, as I found out not too long ago, he is actually in our backyard, in Lancaster!

With his very busy schedule, it is tough to ask for his time, but when I brought it up, he was very excited and we’re happy that he was able to carve out time for us. Oh and if you are curious, he will be discussing Lync and Skype integration which was recently announced by Microsoft.

Let’s make the best of this meeting and show our support for Matt’s generous offer to spend time with us. Networking, knowledge sharing and food/giveaways will top the meeting off. Bring your friends, bring one, bring all.

We will be meeting at Microsoft’s Malvern office (45 Liberty Blvd, Malvern, PA 19355). The Microsoft office is located on second floor. When you arrive, please inform security that you are attending the Exchange User Group event and they will grant you access to the building.

You can also call Bhargav’s cell (570) 709-9046 or Chad’s cell (610) 973-7123 to gain access if needed or you have any questions.

Looking forward to your valued attendance.
